Volunteer with the Frankfort Area Historical Society And The Frankfort Preservation Foundation
The Frankfort Area Historical Society and the Frankfort Preservation Foundation are committed to “preserving Frankfort’s Past for its Future.” To achieve our mission, we need Volunteers with a passion for making a difference in preserving, protecting, and promoting our history. A small commitment from you can make a difference and help us succeed!
The FAHS Museum – Donate your time welcoming guests, giving tours and providing information to our visitors. Most hours are on Sunday afternoons.
Museum Design and Display – Are you creative? Work with our exhibit coordinators to assist in the research, construction and display of Museum artifacts. Displays are on-going. Work in a subject matter that you are passionate about or propose one of your own.
Technology Support – Are you tech savvy? Help produce video presentations to accompany exhibits. Work to digitalize our archives.
Artifact and Picture Organizer – Work with the museum behind the scenes archiving old pictures, newspaper articles, artifacts and information for use in the museum or by town historians.
Construction – Got a hammer and know how to use it? Good with lighting? Work with our Display Design team to make their vision a reality by assisting in the construction of display material for an exhibit. Assist in lighting installation and make our exhibits shine!
FPF Annual Ice Cream Social – Here’s the scoop! Each year we sponsor an old-fashioned Ice Cream Social for Frankfort residents. Assist the committee in planning, marketing, and event details. The event occurs every year on the last Sunday in August. Planning begins 5-6 months prior.
The Frankfort Fall Festival – Each year over Labor Day Weekend, both organizations participate in the food court of the Fest with a food booth. You do not have to be a cook and there are no dishes to wash! Basic tasks such as pouring a beverage or giving food or change to customers is what’s involved. Shifts are Saturday,
Sunday, and Monday and are as short as 2-3 hours. Much of our funding is generated through this effort.
Bring a friend, lend a hand and then enjoy the Fest!
The Annual Holiday House Walk – Each year the Holiday House Walk is a highlight to kick off the season in Frankfort. Through the generosity of Frankfort homeowners, five homes each year are featured. This event is no small task. Work with the committee to assist in securing homes, assist in event planning, and hosting at the museum the day of the event.
